The scientific activities in the Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute are realized according to the Ukrainian Education Act, Ukrainian Science and Scientific and Technical Activity Act, Articles of the institute, "Conception of the research arrangement", the normative acts of the research arrangement in the institutes of higher education.
To combine teaching process and scientific activity on all phases of the training of specialists - it is the backbone of the high-education system that becomes embedded in the institute. Such a method of approach gives students an opportunity to actively acquire the expanded knowledge, facilitates and helps to consciously choose the subject of the study during the teaching process at all educational levels.
The research work of the teachers is an integral part of their activity.
The scientific activity of the institute collaborators is regarded as the comprehensive whole of the research works, intended for the examination of the pressing problems in the humanities, social and natural sciences.
Scientist-and-pedagogue institute workers take part in the complex scientific researches the subject matter of which is usually developed at the departments and subdepartments. The main subject of the research work of the institute is "The investment-and-innovation activity of the region: problems, experience, perspectives".
The lecturers of the department of economics - the head of a chair Vladimirov K. N., the senior teacher Morozova O. G., Vladimirova L. V. actively take part in the development of the Regional programs of the small-scale enterprises progress in the Kherson region. On public administration`s instructions the associate professors Vladimirov K. N. and Pokotilova V. I. were the members of the workgroup that developed the Strategic plan for 2015-2020 about the progress of the Kherson region.
The head of a chair of the liberal arts the associate professor Venig N. M. was the member of the workgroup that developed the Regional complex program "The Kherson Youth" in 2008-2012.
The associate professors and the teachers of the institute always do some research work. The associate professors of the department of finances: the candidate of economic sciences Absava L. A. works at her DPhil`s subject "Global Food Markets and Food security of the country"; the candidate of economic sciences Shapovalova V. M. works at her DPhil`s subject "Macroeconomic aspects of the investment strategy activization"; the candidate of technical sciences Kuzmenko L. V. works at her DPhil`s subject "Coordination of the financial and economic processes at the machine-building enterprises of Ukraine".
The associate professor of the department of the foreign economic activities` managing the candidate of economic sciences Pokotilova V. I. defended in 2010 her DPhil on subject: "Management of the innovative processes in agronomical production". The monograph according to this research issue was published in 2008.
In year 2005 the teacher of the "Audit and Accounting" department Zorin G. G. defended his thesis for the candidate`s degree of economic sciences.
In year 2007 the teacher of the "Audit and Accounting" department Osadchaia T. S. successfully defended her thesis for the candidate`s degree and got the academic degree of the candidate of economic sciences.
In year 2008 the teacher of the "Audit and Accounting" department Shulga N. V. and the teacher of the department "Finances" Sobol L. V. defended their thesises for a candidate`s degree of economic sciences, and the teacher of the department of liberal arts Litikova O. I. defended her thesis for the candidate`s degree of the of education sciences.
In April 2009, Zazulyak I. I. successfully defended his thesis for the candidate`s degree of juridical sciences, on subject: "The essence of a contract: theoretics".
In September 2009, the senior teacher of the department of foreign economic activities` managing Mukhina T. B. defended her research thesis for the candidate`s degree of economic sciences.
Such teachers as: Rykalova J. I. - "Foreign Economic Activities`s Managing" department - since 2007; Kuziv I. V. - "Finances" - since 2005; Subchinskaya O. M. - "Organization Managment" - since 2008 have been studying in extramural graduate course.
In year 2007, the teacher of "Finances" department, Kuziv I. V. was certificated in nomination "The Best Young Scientist of the Year" in the IV local youth rating "Recognition" for her successful research work.
The great attention is paid to the involvement of the students to research. Annually different scientific conferences are carried out (the XIII scientific conference in the Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute took place in March 18-19, 2008), different students` scientific societies are going under the departments. Over the last three years the number of students in scientific societies has increased from 48 to 69 persons. The students of the institute always receive awards for their scientific activity. So, in year 2007, the student of the "Foreign Economic Activities`s Managing" department, Gulyayeva Yekaterina took the 4th place in the National contest of degree and master works.
For their taking part in the 8th Ukrainian contest of final, degree and master works (2008) the student of "Foreign Economic Activities`s Managing" department, Grabko Olga for her diploma work "The marketing strategy of the enterprise - the subject of the foreign economical activities", and the student of "Organization management" department, Sas Lyubomyr for his diploma work "The main ways of the investment appeal increasing of "The Kherson Factory of Cardan Shafts" public corporation" got the appreciation from the chairman of the Presidium of the methodological management committee prof. A. A. Mazaraki.
Lageza Yulia, the student of "Organization management" department, got the certificate of the Second Class on the II Ukrainian theoretical and practical conference of the young scientists and students "Problems of economics, management and development of enterprises under present-day conditions", that took place at the Kharkov State Technical University of Building and Architecture for her lecture on subject "The inventory management as the increasing factor of the economical effectivity of the enterprise".
For her lecture that took the 1st place, the student of "Organization management" department Popovich Oksana got the letter of commendation from the Chairman of the Association of Ukrainian Educational Institutions of private ownership, the Chancellor of the European University (Kiev) I. I. Timoshenko and the Chancellor of the National Pedagogical University named after M. P. Dragomanov, V. P. Andrushchenko.
In year 2008, the student of "Finances" department Belozerov Michael took the 1st place in the IV Ukrainian students` theoretical and practical conference in Donetsk city.
A. M. Goreltsev, the student of "Finances" department, who took part in the IV Ukrainian students` contest for getting prize from ICB* "Ukr SocBank" (2007), so by results of this contest he was rated among 100 of the best students of Ukraine.
In the second contest of the Kherson City Council "The city and the science - the effective self-government" (2008), the diploma works of the students of the Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute Gulyayeva K. A. and Seytumerova R. M. (laureate) in the nomination "The industrial development", were noted.

The Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute develops the international relations with European countries. The associate professor of "Economical cybernetics" Smyrnova Y. M. while the accomplishing her DPhil, more and once underwent a training course in a branch of the Silesian university in the Cieszyn (Poland), together with the teachers of the "Economical cybernetics" department, took part in the theoretical and practical conferences, conducted the special courses for the students of the Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute and the branch of the Silesian University of the Cieszyn (Poland). This caused the establishment of the narrow ties between universities.
The associate professor Maksimochkina O. V. took part in the joint Polish and Ukrainian project initiated for celebration in honor of the eminent Polish figure Jerzy Giedroyc, also she took part in the investigation of the Poles` arrival in the South of Ukraine. Personally she worked in the regional archives of the Kherson where she had found about 100 sources that are the evidence of the appearance of the Polish settlers in the South of Ukraine, their fruitful activity until the middle of XX century. The outcomes of this work were published in the joint edition of the Department of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Political and Ethnonational researches named after I. P. Kuras and the Rzesz?w University of the Queen Jadwiga (Poland), the society "The Knowledge" and the Non-government organization of the educationalists and scientists of Ukraine: "The Poles at The South of Ukraine: The Past and The Present".
In whole the research activity meets the requirements and the self-examination data. The institute has tight international scientific ties with educational institutions of Europe (Poland) and constantly strengthens and develops them.
In May 21-23, 2010, the scientific conference "The reflexive economical methods" took place in the Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute.
The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute and the Regional State Administration organized this conference. The symposium and the collection of reports will soon be published according to its outcomes.
In May 28-29, 2010, the Research Institute of Private Law and Enterprise, of the National Academy of Sciences of Law of Ukraine, together with the Kherson Economics-and-Law Institute organized the circular table: "THE OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS OF THE CIVIL PROCEDURE ON THE BASIS OF THE MODERN JURIDICAL REFORM".
There were some interesting statements made about the reformation of our judicial system under present-day circumstances. According to the results of this circular table the symposium and collection of the reports has been already done and is now being edited.
